Hillsong’s Brian Houston Issues Statement On Australian Same-Sex Marriage Vote

Pastor Houston issued the following statement:

Dear Church,

I urge all Christians to be a part of the upcoming postal plebiscite on same sex marriage. Whatever your view on this issue, it is undeniably one that is important to the fabric of our social structure. Changing the definition of marriage has wide-reaching ramifications and should not be taken lightly by any society. All Australians should be a part of this process, not just a select few.

For Christians, the issue is also a matter of faith and biblical teaching, something that should never be mocked or downplayed by those with opposing views. I believe God’s Word is clear that marriage is between a man and a woman. The writings of the apostle Paul in scripture on the subject of homosexuality are also clear, as I have mentioned in previous public statements.

Throughout this entire debate, some on both sides of the argument have failed to understand and respect the views of others. Some of those advocating for change to the definition of marriage have confused faith convictions with bigotry however they must understand that Christian – and other religious – beliefs are extremely important to those who hold them and in fact are vital to a tolerant and free society.

Sadly some also use Christianity to alienate and even condemn those who are gay and dismiss their desire to pursue happiness. As a Christian pastor, I will always teach and preach according to scripture and to my personal convictions, but I cannot make other people’s choices for them. God created humanity with a free will, and I care about all people including those who believe differently to me.

In less than a month, Australians will receive the ballot papers, which gives us all the ability to cast a vote on the issue of same sex marriage. Hillsong Church already functions well and without impediment in other parts of the world where same sex marriage is legal, and as long as we are not forced through legislation to compromise our biblical convictions, we can quite comfortably continue to function whatever the outcome of this plebiscite.

It must be emphasised however, that for Christians to obtain an outcome consistent with their beliefs, they must vote. I believe that many Australians who are often referred to as the ‘silent majority’ feel strongly on this subject but allow louder and often more aggressive voices to control the public dialogue. This plebiscite provides us all with an equal voice and we should not waste this opportunity.

Love and Blessings,
Brian Houston

Thanks God for All Chaplains in USA Military!!!

Life gives us holidays and celebrations, some pleasant and some sad, some that we expect and we plan and some that do not have any input from us but knowing that will come, some are full of guests, music and flowers and others that you are alone or nearly one ……

Today we celebrate an event …. honestly, I do not know where to put it.

To be happy? We have to be, but is hard…..

To be sad? We could, but we are not ….

Today, we remember that 19 years ago God blessed us with a special blessing: Daniel!… and we are received that blessing with joy in our hearts. Moments of happiness when after five daughters (two of which have already gone into heaven) God has blessed us with a boy!

Thanks God for him; for almost 19 years he delighted us with his presence, he bring joy and happiness to entire house, he say at 5 years old he want to be a pastor, actually in there time he goes to our pastor in one Sunday and grabbing his coat (to bring attention) he ask: what do you do to be a pastor?

….. but life goes on….a year ago when he turned 18, I wrote him:         “Your success in life is always in your hands. I wish you faith, strength and focus to succeed in life.

Many say that youth is wasted on the young but you have the ability to prove that wrong! On your 18th birthday, make me a promise that you will not waste what you’re got, live to the fullest and make the very best of everything. A talent alone is never enough; you need to have a thirst to master it.

I look at you and wonder what mountains you will climb, what joys you will have…..I know there will be tears and struggle as well, but my prayer is that YOU WILL GROW into the man YOU ARE MEANT TO BE!!!!!

Now, I realize that without knowing, I prophesied something for his life. And he, as an obedient child rushed to fulfill that prophesy.

Today we celebrate his coming into this world 19 years ago …

Thank God for the 18 years we have celebrated this event together …..

But now, on his 19th celebration, we are on different continents …. we, his parents, here in Phoenix continuing our daily lives and him, our son Danny, in Sydney, Australia, where he is going not to waste his youth, but to start being the MAN he is MEANT TO BE!!!

God called him to enlarge the boundaries of his activities: now he is call to bring the joy and happiness to the word, to be a changemaker, to bring the Word of God to the people who don’t know Him, to brings hope and laugh, music and flowers to anyone around him…..

To be sad that we are not together? We could, but we are not …
To be happy? We must be, even if it’s hard …..

What we can sincerely do from a distance is to wish him God’s blessing upon him every single day; and every word from now on has another dimension for us, as parents, when we say:                                                         HAPPY BIRTHDAY (not Danny Boy anymore, but…..) DANIEL, THE MAN OF GOD!!!!!

HILLSONG……worship music…

Amazing Christian Music…..real Christian Music…..God Bless!!!!!
