Do you trust the Holy Spirit to work in you, or do you lean on the flesh? Do you have the precious dew of His miraculous anointing on your life, or have you manufactured a cheap form of human moisture to do the job?

As I have prayed for more anointing in my life, I’ve realized that we often mistake fake anointing for the real thing. Here’s what I’ve learned so far:


The anointing isn’t in numbers….

The anointing isn’t in eloquence….

The anointing isn’t in looks….

The anointing isn’t in technology….

The anointing isn’t in emotionalism.

The anointing isn’t in contrived manifestations….

As a father of three young children I shutter when I read things like this in the Bible.

“They have built the high places of Topheth in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to burn their sons and daughters in the fire—something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.”  Jer 7:31

“And you took your sons and your daughters, whom you had borne to me, and these you sacrificed to them to be devoured. Were your whorings so small a matter that you slaughtered my children and delivered them up as an offering by fire to them?”  Ez 16:20-21

“And they burned their sons and their daughters as offerings and used divination and omens and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger.”  2 Kings 17:17

So great was the idolatry of Israel that they have resorted to child sacrifices to appease Molek and other gods…

Save the Princess

Fighting for our loved one will save the kingdom!!!

I love movies.

I especially love classic, Disney cartoons. I love sharing those films with younger generations. I introduced my 2 year old nephew to “Dumbo” and now he’s hooked. Despite the lack of computer animation, the stories touch the heart and give the viewer a strong dose of faith and hope.

My absolute favorite Disney movie of all time is Sleeping Beauty. I love the story, the artwork, the music, and the adventure.

I’ve come to appreciate it even more as I’ve grown older.

I will never face a dragon. I will most likely never chop my way through a thorny forest to save a princess. I will never wear a princely cape.

But I will face insurmountable odds. I will have to rescue and protect the people I love.

Sometimes, we forget that the battle is real because its disguised as ordinary, every day life.
